If the players do not have any of the cards then the winner is selected from the players with the highest cards. Each player starts the game with 2 cards called holes. In the center there are dealt five community cards. Community cards can be seen, hole cards cannot be seen. Using the community cards and your holes you will play the best 5 cards hand. You do not need to use any or all your hole cards. When the first player is calling it means he in making the first bet. Checking is when a player wishes to play without raising the bet, as long as on the table there is no open raise.
